Job Location: Chandler, AZ

The Assistant Controller is responsible for providing support to the CFO on all financial, budgeting, reporting and analysis activities of the corporation. Additionally, the position will manage the day-to-day accounting operations of VirTra, Inc. in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) rules, regulations and interpretive guidance, and compliance with US and multi-state tax codes. Other duties include preparing the Company’s month-end analysis and quarterly revenue forecast, and drafting the SEC Form 10-Q and Form 10-K, and annual master budget preparation.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage the Accounting Department daily activities and responsible for hitting all accounting deadlines.
  • Coordinate with external auditor’s Quarterly review and year-end audits.
  • Prepare financial reporting of quarterly revenue forecasts and annual plan results.
  • Maintains financial information files and records. Verifies the accuracy of accounting documents and records. Ensure compliance with company policies and proper internal controls. Investigates questionable data and recommend actions to resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate KPI reports for Sales Department
  • Assist CFO in developing a monthly departmental budget to actual analysis.
  • Provide training and support to subordinates.
  • Make annual review recommendations to CFO regarding finance staff performance.
  • Update and maintain accounting journals, ledgers and other records detailing financial business transactions and enters data into the company computer systems via direct entry, general journal entry or automated entry.
  • Assist with the timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and monthly financial statements, Form 10-Q and Form 10-K, and operational budgets and key metrics.
  • Complete and review finance departments reconciliations.
  • Assist CFO in budget process.
  • Review and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual federal and state income and sales tax reconciliations.
  • Prepare year-end tax forms including 1096, 1099, and provide reconciliation of W-2’s to general ledger.
  • Prepare, improve, and maintain Revenue Forecast on a weekly basis.
  • Communicate with all stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Responsible for all revenue accounting for the company, including Recognized Revenue per ASC 606, Deferred Revenue, Unbilled Revenue, and Account Receivable. Prepare journal entries and work paper reconciliations for all revenue related accounts.
  • Comply with department ISO 9001 processes and company quality policy.
  • Manage and document time worked daily by project code.
  • Provide miscellaneous support to other departments as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Frequently the employee will be required to sit in front of a computer for multiple hours. Will also stand; walk; use hands or fingers, handle or feel; and bend.

Education & Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance with core accounting classes required.
  2. GAAP and SEC financial statement preparation and disclosure experience preferred.
  3. Experience preparing SEC Form 10-Q and Form 10-K desired.
  4. Experience with Epicor or other large scale ERP accounting software strongly preferred.
  5. 5+ years hands on accounting experience
  6. Advanced user of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  7. Ability to work more than 40-hours per week as needed to meet quarterly SEC filing deadlines.
  8. Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-task work environment and maintain attention to detail deadlines.

Additional Requirements:

  • Full time position consists of 40+ hours per week; normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm.  This position may require long hours and weekend work due to business demands, audit, and financial reporting deadlines.
